How to know what changed in project files
A practical way to stop relying on filenames and memory.
Do not trust the filename
Final, final-2, revised, and signed do not tell you which terms moved. Start with the latest two versions and the decisions they control: price, scope, dates, payment, and responsibilities.
Review changes by consequence
Sort findings into money, schedule, scope, and administration. A punctuation change can wait; a payment term moving from 15 to 30 days deserves attention now.
Keep the source attached
Record the changed value, the previous value, and the exact source. Sclerite helps by detecting authorized file updates and keeping evidence beside the explanation.
