How to find payment terms without rereading every contract

Ask for the whole rule
The number of days is not enough. Look for the trigger, required invoice format, approval condition, retainage, late fees, and any pay-if-paid or pay-when-paid language.
Check amendments
A later change order or signed revision may replace the base contract. Compare the relevant versions before treating the first matching clause as final.
